how do i get you alone?

Heart - Alone
Uploaded by jpdc11
Till now I always got by on my own
I never really cared until I met you
And now it chills me to the bone
How do I get you alone
How do I get you alone

amazing 80s rock. i love this. :) alright the video's slightly scary, but the music and feeling makes up for it! from the same composers as madonna's (phenomenal) like a virgin.

Tried to hitch a ride to San Francisco
Gotta do the things I wanna do
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
They brought me back to see my way with you

and something that brings us back to the 60s. massachusetts is my favourite bee gees song. i don't know why but it has the ability to make me cry...

ps i think dailymotion allows a much higher upload quality than youtube.

if you're going to turn into a pig...

from foto decadent.
i know she's alice (in wonderland) here, but natalia vodianova looks like a gossamer fairy. that piglet is too sweet! i admit to reading enid blyton when i have trouble sleeping, haha. nothing like good old simple stories about fairies, goblins, gnomes, wizards and what-nots. :)

my mommy and my aunt.

i like this view.

and i've taken to sleeping downstairs in the study, on a makeshift 'bed' of a mattress and a sleeping bag. quite cosy.

haven't seen/ spoken to many other human beings besides my family members, the exams being so near and such. hope y'all are well. :)

They tried to make me go to rehab
I said no, no, no.

Yes I've been black, but when I come back
You wont know, know, know.

He walks away,
The sun goes down,
He takes the day but I'm grown,
And in this grey, in this blue shade
My tears dry on their own

strange, talented and so cool. the kurt cobain of our generation?

storytelling rediscovered.

Nokia N82
Uploaded by firat
Once upon a time,
a sleeping beauty awakens,
a princess finds her unicorn,
a wizard waves his wand,
a shining star guides the way,
a pirate discovers hidden treasure,
a knight slays a dragon,
secret worlds are revealed and
all before the clock strikes midnight...

nokia has excellent advertising. after watching this, i feel like i need that magic in my life. (meaning - i need you, new phone!) and i don't even know anything about the phone besides it having eh, GPS and a cool camera.

the third year of medical school.

i chanced upon the name of my third interviewer for medschool (the other two being prof hooi and prof ong wy from NUS) whilst looking at some newspaper cuttings at NNI's neurodiagnostic services lab. almost three years after the interview itself. putting a name to a face, finally.

that made me remember how jittery i was. and how, when i started sweating, prof ong asked me whether i knew what system controlled sweating. i didn't.

as i learn more about medicine, i'm also learning about myself and the role i'll have to play in future. i kinda think that one grows into the job. :)

a wizard waves his wand.

Ascent of the Blessed by Hieronymous Bosch, 1500s.
there is life outside and after.
and one day, when time no longer matters to us, we will all be reunited where there is no darkness.

your world.

Christina's World by Andrew Wyeth, 1948.

this painting depicts a young woman, paralysed from the waist down, crawling across a vast field. i believe that if you could see her face, you would see her longing, and her desperation.

history of the painting here.

--

is the first step to acceptance admitting how truly unhappy you are?

but how does one accept these things? with the faith that time will heal, and bring you peace?

chinese new year's eve 2008.

i am tired being tired and upset.

sometimes, it still feels like a dream.

--

my parents are some of the bravest individuals i know. faced with trials and tribulations in life, they have pulled through time and time again. i've learnt that regardless of what cards are dealt to you, you have to make do and continue the game.

i pray for strength and fortitude in time to come, for those whom i love the most, and for myself.

And it stings when it's nobody's fault
Cause there's nothing to blame at the drop of your name
It's only the air you took and the breath you left

if you prick us do we not bleed?

strange, i was thinking of that line today.

i've realised no matter how much cof-medicine tries to teach us about being there for a patient in times of need, it's nothing like having to live it, for real.

of course, it's not a lesson anyone would want to go through. or that i would wish for any of you to experience.

i've realised too that although friends are people we can depend on, it is drawing from your own personal strength that truly puts your life into perspective.

and that life is precious and beautiful, despite everything. to be alive and be able to give love and receive it, is a gift in itself.

wanting far too much for far too long.

we are all pawns, part of the game of life where you don't actually know the next step until it happens to you.

increasingly, i feel like i can't express myself well. my speech seems disconnected from my thoughts. it is too tiring to try to put into words what goes on in my mind, because of the truckload of thoughts flying around. sometimes, i'm terrified to be left alone, because i'm on the verge of crying. other times, i want very much to be alone instead, to have some peace and quiet.

yet it's so hard to open one's mouth and say "don't leave me alone." things are much simpler when you just depend on yourself.

it sounds crazy, doesn't it. :)

facecrime.

Nuit (Night) by Alphonse Mucha. From The Times of the Day Series. 1899.

we find solace in what is beautiful, and what tells the stories inside.

--

and it's the kind of unhappiness that you cannot get away from, because it infiltrates every part of your day - your thoughts, your attempts at brave smiles and your i'm okays.

it's so hard not to let your face betray your heart.

--

or perhaps, i'm really okay. at this precise moment, i don't really know!

this blog is getting increasing self-indulgent.

the colour becoming the art.

The International Klein Blue (IKB) is a deep blue first mixed by the French artist, Yves Klein.

International Klein Blue (or IKB as it is known in art circles) was developed by French artist Yves Klein as part of his search for colors which best represented the concepts he wished to convey as an artist. Although Klein had worked with blue extensively in his earlier career, it was not until 1958 that he used it as the central component of a piece (the color effectively becoming the art).
