A fractured toe

A fractured toe + avulsed toenail, and a week of leave. OT trolley with the patient still on it rolled over my foot. Yelped in pain, then cried. Had to go to the Children's Emergency - due to the nature of my current rotation. Some kind souls asked me how I was, being the oldest patient there. Young ED doctor applied some stitches. Had to hobble from call room to office to get my things on crutches. That bit was the scariest because of the fear of falling.
Agatha Christie's Poirot - still my favourite TV show after all these years. David Suchet is excellent. He has such a nuanced yet humorous interpretation of Poirot. Was pleasantly surprised that one or two colleagues are fans too... Thought no one else would watch this.
A week of thought... Sometimes what you think is, really isn't. The people you think are a certain way, really aren't that way. Someone I was close to in school, could call out at anytime for a meal, turned into a stranger. But I realise that things do change and we all move on.
A week of letters.
One day I'll find the right words, and they will be simple.
Mom's death anniversary approaches. I remember asking her before she passed on whether she missed her own mother (my grandma). She replied "Especially now, when I am ill."
Sometimes finding her old notebooks really makes me upset. I recently found my maid's old "pay book" where my mom recorded my maid's monthly pay. Her handwriting became more and more untidy and in-decipherable as her illness progressed... Until the month where she passed, when the handwritten entry was written by my maid herself rather than my mom.
Time flies. So much has changed. I guess to always look at things with courage.
As Hercule Poirot would say... Bonne chance!
